Marvin Cat started showing up for meals in 1995, and we would load him in the car and return him to his rightful owner, but I guess he liked our rations and kept returning. One day he was crying on our doorstep with bloody paw pads, and we adopted him right then. He has been one of the family for fifteen years, and we guess that he is sixteen or seventeen years old.

Two years ago our vet discovered that Marvin has melanoma, and we feel lucky to still have him with us today; but he is losing his hair, and now we can hear him wheezing when he breathes, so it is in his lungs now. The good news is that he does not seem to be suffering, and we hope that the end is easy for him.

It's hard when a pet dies - they become part of the family, but are with us such a short time.
Yes, it's hard, but we keep taking in new ones, and get attached all over again. The joy is worth the pain.
Ugggg...
Allow me to reflect all the good thoughts for Princess' recent passing back to Marvin and the TBS extended family.

Thanks, Borepatch and Danno. We feel fortunate that he is not in pain. Our vet is only 1/2 hour away if he needs relief.
