Crankin' It Up: 1917 War Fervor

Arthur Fields and the Peerless Quartet recorded this wartime version of a Hot Time in December, 1917.

This is another one of those records stashed away and never listened to; after all, I have heard "A Hot Time" all my life.  Well this one is different.  "A Hot Time" was written in 1896, and was played on the minstrel show circuit.  It was very popular during the Spanish-American War.  This record has new lyrics to help whip up war spirit in 1917.  It's a safe bet that the writers and singers didn't have to worry about going over to France.
