Not My Victrola: When The Work's All Done This Fall

This song comes to mind every year about this time.  It's an early Country/Western song, and it falls into what I call Pathetic Ballads.  It's meant to be a tear-jerker, and folks either love it or hate it.  Vernon Dalhart recorded many songs in this genre, like The Baggage Coach Ahead, It Was Sad When The Great Ship Went Down, The Wreck of the Old 97, and The Prisoner's Song; all good for flushing a speck out of your eye.  Bonus: this video comes with a little grey kitty-cat!
