Tuesday Torque: V12 Rolls Royce Merlin!

Here's an engine nut in hog heaven.  Can you beat this with an engine in your collection?

I had a lot of trouble (with my poor hearing) understanding what that man said - but I sure understood that engine.

On a related note, there was a lunatic by the name of E. J. Potter who put one of those V-12s in a 1964 Dart (?) station wagon. When that didn't work out, he hooked a big generator to it & used it to make an electric drive car, with the generator stationary & a long extension cord.

Then there was the "Bloody Mary" bike, with a Corvette motor on it.

It took a lot of guts to drive any of his creations, and much to my surprise none of them killed him, although several tried.

I can't understand him either, and my hearing is nearly perfect. Funny thing is no-one else can hear the buzzing and ringing that my ears hear. Hearing the wife over all that vibration is difficult. It might have something to do with chainsaws and gunfire.

I sympathize - I also suffer from tinnitus.

I turned on closed captioning. "catholic italian engine" was one of the gems and there are more.
Of course this led into a little internet research on the engines.
Very interesting, but the big radials are still holding first place in my heart.
Great post, thank you.

Here is his wiki, quite a interesting person.
If you have watched any of the Isle of Mann TT races, he is fearless.
