Life's Little Challenges

We are fostering a couple of homeless Schips right now, and they are doing well, but one of them...

...has heartworms, and was just treated this week. He has to be kept quiet for three weeks or more. We are keeping him kenneled in subdued light, and he goes on the leash for his very slow outdoor walks.  This is how he normally is:

He's a challenge! We cover his kennel to keep him from bouncing around, and I have to keep him on a short leash outdoors. We have done this before with two other dogs, and we will not be complacent with him. He's a pretty sweet little guy. He was taking antibiotics and lost his appetite, and I had to hold him in my lap and spoon-feed him. The things we do for pets! When he gets a clean bill of health both dogs will be adopted out to some lucky family.
