I did a search for Jesse Byers on the Steam Traction site and found some photos he had submitted to Iron Men: http://www.steamtraction.com/archive/1889
I also did a search for Peerless 40-120 HP, and found an engine similar to this one. The stack is different and it has extension rims, so I do not think it is the same engine.
Mrs. Byers could probably manage a wood cook stove and whomp up a Sunday dinner in short order.
