Last Night, 7:41P, A 3.4 Rolled Through

From about five miles north of Fairfield, Illinois. It sounded like thunder, and felt like a truck wrecked on the road.

We have relatively small earthquakes here from the Wabash Fault every few years. Most of them are around 3. We had a Fiver in '08 that caused bricks to fall and walls to crack. There was a Fiver in 1968 from the New Madrid Fault that caused widespread damage; broken windows, bricks, chimneys, etc. The Big One was in the late Eighteenth Century, and it made Reelfoot Lake, toppled timber over a huge area, and made the Mississippi run backward.
