Merle: Pattie says white potatoes are better than russet. She always mashes by hand; the younger generation uses the mixer to whip them in the final stage. Save your water that boiled the potatoes. Add it if the final product is coming out too dry. Here's the good part: Cream, sour cream, butter, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, a little salt, a little white pepper. Now, go practice! If you succeed, you will be an honorary Grandson!

I make mine in a pressure cooker 5 or 6 at a time with a sprinkling of dried onion and about 1/2 tsp of crushed Rosemary.
