Squirrel Overhead!

The squirrels are really cutting the hickory nuts right now, and there is a constant rain of their hull nibblings when we are out in the dog yard. These trees aren't all that tall, but a straight up shot with a .22 on top of your shoulder would still be tough. Step out of the way if you make that shot. If that squirrel lands on you it could be exciting.

  1. Our attempts at tree rat control ended when we gave up.
It seemed that reducing the local population made the surrounding squirrels flow into the now desirable squirrel free real estate.

If we could train the squirrels to attack the deer, that would be a wonderful thing.
But it would more likely result in the deer and the squirrels forming some sort of alliance where the deer became squirrel troop transports, and then everything would just get worse.

  2. years ago, I found a Daisy was more than effective. I never would have considered taking a "straight-up" shot any more than I would have thought about looking down the bore with my finger on the trigger, not even on a dare.
