I remember helping my father remove the flywheel on a lawnmower by using an inertial flywheel puller. I was basically a nut with a closed end that threaded onto the end of the shaft and you struck it smartly with a hammer. Same principle and the air hammer worked great.
I don't know whether or not a blunt chisel in the SDS hammer drill would work.
I'm saving that idea in my memory file.
