I pass this spot frequently when I am going back and forth through the country. Last year, and again this year, poachers are dumping deer carcasses along the road. (Six in one spot this year.) These deer had only the best cuts taken out of them and they were not field dressed or skinned. It is maddening to know we have people of such low morals nearby.
I forget: when is the first day of poacher season?
ReplyDeleteI understood that last year there was no limit, particularly on restauranteurs offering "fresh venison".
Bow season in Illinois started October 1. They check the deer in by cell phone, and nobody checks to see if it was taken legally. These deer weren't tagged, and just the hams and the loins were taken. With six of them at one location, I doubt that the meat was for personal or family use. The first firearm season begins tomorrow, November 17, for three days. There will be another firearm season after Thanksgiving for four days, and after that will be muzzleloader season.
