Here is an unusual place to find a steam engine. Luckily for us, the Besler steam airplane was actually filmed being demonstrated in 1933, and now the old newsreel clips can be found on YouTube. Amazing pictures!

A couple of good articles about this airplane are on this page: http://www.rexresearch.com/besler/beslerst.htm The engine is a double acting, V, Cross-Compound, weighing 180 pounds, and delivering 150 HP. The boiler is an oil fired flash system.
