Mr. Completely's August 2016 e-Postal Contest

Merle, one of the regulars in the e-Postal contests, is the host for August, right here on True Blue Sam.  It appears to be an easy target, but since I seem to blow easy shots regularly I will have to try it and see how difficult it is.

Here is a taste of bowling pin shooting. It requires a solid hit, as the pin must be knocked off
the table – not just knocked down.

Go here for the target. http://targetz.com/targetzlib/20022.pdf

For each handgun and rimfire rifle print two of these targets.

For centerfire rifles print one target, to keep ammo costs down.

PISTOL DISTANCE: 25 ft/10 yards, whichever is available

RIFLE DISTANCE: as noted in Classes

PISTOL SHOOTING POSITION: Standing, unsupported.

RIFLE SHOOTING POSITION: bench, prone, sitting, any other safe position that does not
include a cradle.

Folks with disabilities may make the necessary position adjustments.

Take five shots at the bowling pin. Try to get them off as quickly as safely possible, as a real
match is a timed event. Repeat for handguns and rimfire rifles.

Classes:

 1. .177/22 cal air pistol, iron sights/non magnified red dot (air or CO2 powered)
 2. .177/22 cal air pistol, magnified optical sights (air or CO2 powered)
 3. rim fire pistol, iron sights/non magnified red dot
 4. rim fire pistol, magnified optical sights
 5. center fire pistol, iron sights/non magnified red dot
 6. center fire pistol, magnified optical sights
 7. rim fire rifle iron sights/non magnified red dot (25 yds)
 8. rim fire rifle magnified optical sights (25 yds)
 9. center fire rifle iron sights/non magnified red dot (50 yds)
10. center fire rifle magnified optical sights (50 yds)

Anything else; airguns, crossbow pistols, airsoft, muzzle loaders, etc. Shoot it and send it in.

Shoot as many guns as you can, multiple guns per class are fine (as inspired by Mr. C) but only
one entry per gun please.

SCORING: 3 points for shots totally inside the body of the pin, not touching the line at the
edge.

2 points for a shot inside the body of the pin, but touching the line of the edge.

1 point for a hit on the outside edge of the pin; as marginal hits may just knock the pin down,
but not off the table.

Mark each target with:

The name you want used

Distance

Score

Firearm make/model

Sights

Caliber

Ammo

Any comments that apply.

List your score for each target, plus the grand total for both targets.

Make a scan or take a photo of your targets and send to: truebluetravelinman (at) gmail (dot)

com (Do the translation.)

Include photos from the range and your gun if you like.  Good luck!!!

Weekend Steam: National Threshers Association, Wauseon, Ohio

At about 16 1/2 minutes you will see Leroy Blaker's Port Huron engine.  You might have to be as old as I am for that to mean anything to you.  Mr. Blaker started the National Threshers Association show, and it generally recognized as the first steam show in the U.S.   Elmer Ritzman of the Iron Men Album featured that show many times in his magazine, so steam fans who read that magazine in the fifties and sixties were very familiar with Leroy Blaker and his Port Huron.  Gotta go see this show someday.  Video by Greyhound Steam.

Tuesday Torque: Flying Shop Rag!

We used to fly control line planes many years ago, and for some reason we never heard of this.  Do these things need an FAA drone permit?

1937, Again?

We have all been taught that World War II began in 1939.  Historians tie it to Hitler's invasion of Poland, but there was much going on in the World before that.  This famous photo was taken at the Shanghai railroad station in 1937 shortly after a bombing raid by the Japanese that killed 1500.  There was much criticism of this photo at the time; people said it must have been staged.  The child's mother was one of the 1500 killed, and the father left with the child without photographer Wong getting his information.  It's real enough. Read The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang if you think World War II did not begin for another two years.

We have been seeing photos like this for several years now as Islam continues its march to eliminate Christianity and anything else it doesn't like.  Mohammed's minions are now well entrenched on our shores and the violence is encircling the globe in spite of the efforts to ignore it by news hacks and self-serving politicians.  At what point will it boil over?  Judging from history, it's bound to happen, and the pace of terrorist attacks continues unabated.

We Hope You Had A Happy Ramadan...

...because a whole bunch of people around the world did not.  Including here in the U.S.A.

Ramadan Scorecard from TheReligionofPeace.com   Used with permission.

Ramadan 2016 was an eventful month with bombings, shootings, stabbings, boiling alive, beheadings  and more in the news.  Thirteen year old Hallel Yaffa Ariel was murdered in her bedroom by a Palestinian terrorist, and if you get your news from the mainstream media, you probably did not hear about it.  She was an American; the seventh killed by Palestinian terrorists in the last year.  The wife of the Orlando terrorist who killed 49 people was given space and time by the FBI to "grieve," and she jumped the fence.  She is still at large as far as we know.  No moderate Muslims have convinced her to turn herself in.  Young Swedish women are being raped in record numbers by Muslim invaders, and the police are issuing armbands to protect their women.  The armbands say something like "Please don't rape me." ISIS is evidently running out of Christians to kill, and they are going after other Muslims who don't go to the right mosque, or whatever reason they have at the moment.  Ramadan saw prisoners lowered into vats of acid and in the last few days they started boiling people alive.

There is a link for The Religion Of Peace on the left side of this blog.  R.O.P is updated daily with newslinks from around the world so you can keep up with the war against everyone by devout Muslims.  Read it and be informed.

Ruger's Auction To Benefit The USA Shooting Team

You have a good chance at a good deal this week.  Ruger is offering a P85 Decocker made in 1990, and it was only used for photographs before it was stored away in Ruger's safe.  This will probably go for a pretty nice price for an online auction, so go check it out and make a bid.  This pistol sells mid-day, Wednesday, July 6, 2016.  100% of the proceeds of this sale will go to benefit the USA Shooting Team.  $560, someone made a great deal!

Tuesday Torque: Half-Breed Oilfield Engine

Oil production in this country began while steam was still king, so naturally, steam engines were used for drilling and producing oil.  As gas engines came into vogue many of the oilfield steam engines were converted into gas engines.  The engines in remote, out-of-the-way places have survived in sufficient numbers that  they are a hobby unto themselves with engine collectors.  This is a two-stroke engine, and the lower end of the cylinder performs the intake function that is handled by the crankcase on modern two-stroke engines.
