September "It's A Monster!" e-Postal Scores
This was a busy month for the Mr. Completely e-Postal Contest, especially for Merle! There were some impressive scores, and I sure wish Danno had a place to shoot where he could put his targets at a realistic distance. Thirty-three feet is just too far for the little Postal targets, so he did well, too, even if his scores are lower than the others. Anyway, Here You Go! Many Thanks to all who entered!

Here is an impressive target from Billll, one of the top shooters. If you haven't been shooting these monthly contests, jump right in! You still have October and November to shoot this year before we take our winter break. You know you need the practice, unless you are Pat B, Billll, or Chester!

Not My Victrola: Century Old Golden Oldie
"You Made Me Love You" was a huge hit, starting 100 years ago. Here is an early recording of the song by Bertram Pritchard, but Al Jolson is the one who made it a hit.

Crankin' It Up: An Old Seasonal Favorite
The goldenrod along the highways and byways is just about finished, and will fade quickly when we have the first frost. Brat and I pulled this one out of the record cabinet just in time.

We're Back!
The new modem put us on line again, but we have been gone all evening to the Carmi Rifle Club. We have moved indoors for the Dark-Time portion of the year, and a good time was had by all. I have a bunch of entries for the September match that I must assemble into a table, but it's too late to start that tonight. Enjoy a nice old car photo in the meantime.
Maybe No Post Tonight...
...The modem at home took a hit from a T-storm today. Susan is gone to pick up a new one and we hope that is the only problem. If no news by 10:30, go on to bed!

Coming To An End
It has been a glorious summer and I hate to see it end. The days are getting shorter and the daily commutes will soon be done in the dark, but the leaves are yellerin' up real pretty right now, and we are enjoying that. The smell of corn being harvested is something that most city folks never learn, and I am always a bit surprised by it every fall. It's an old memory. The hummingbirds have moved on and the Monarchs I see are all headed south. Gotta file the saws and start making wood.
Here's An Easy One!
One of the trees I was asked to drop recently was a forward leaning black oak with lots of room in front of the lean. Note when it falls that the top is dead, and that it has live limbs on the lower portion of the trunk. It does a little bounce when it hits the ground.
