Tuesday Turbo Boost

We started the Tuesday Turbo series with these kids, and I've stayed away from them for many months because I like to keep our readers guessing on what might come up next.  But...they called me back.  My heart races, and I smile from my deep inside when I hear sincere fiddlling.  Whiskey Before Breakfast and Red Haired Boy.

Not My Victrola: Mamas and Papas

This song drove folks to distraction during WWII, but Jimmie Rodgers caused it all with his song, Pistol Packin' Papa, during the 1930's.

These songs came to mind today because we spent the day at an Appleseed event, and will go again on Sunday.  Susan and her Mother Pat both shot, and I can't tell which one is happier.

I think it's Pat.  Click on the pic to enlarge.  All Four out of five hits are in the 1" square.  Two years ago she had to retrain her body to use the left side. She owes part of her success to a year of shooting Ruger pistols, especially for e-Postal matches.

I know you all are waiting for the e-Postal results.  We should be back from the range at a decent hour tomorrow and I hope to begin putting the results together.  Since I haven't posted August results yet, feel free to submit your scans until I show the results!

Weekend Steam: Midwest Central Whistle Blowers

ReevesMan88 posted this one a few years ago.  It illustrates the differences you used to hear in train whistles at railroad crossings.

Remember The Winchester 74 That Zeke Donated To The Rendezvous and HAVA?

That beauty is in Reno now, and will have a new owner on Saturday night.  If you aren't there, go Friday, register Friday night, shoot steel on Saturday, eat pizza Saturday night, and buy enough raffle tickets that you win this fine, shootable old Winchester.

Zeke sent me photos of the target he shot while sighting in the Model 74.  Here are his final three shots,

...and here they are covered up with a dime.  25 yards.  Go To Reno!

Gun Blogger Rendezvous IX: It Begins!

Today, Mr. Completely and KeeWee will have arrived in Reno, and Kevin, too.  Zeke is on his way, but this time is like the Apollo missions returning to Earth.  Communications are blacked out as the travellers head to the annual congregation.  I can't go, because Susan and I are taking care of our mothers, and our hearts are way out west as we stay in the Midwest.

Zeke has completed another holster that will go to the winner of the Ruger Hunter pistol, and I wish I could see it in person.

Wouldn't these look great on your belt?!!!  If you can go, but haven't signed up, call the Silver Legacy and get a room.  Head to Reno!  Friday, everyone will head to the Washoe County Range after breakfast for shooting from 45 feet to 900 yards.  Show and Tell will be Friday night.  Saturday will be Steel Challenge shooting at the Washoe Range, and Saturday night is the big raffle, when you will be a big winner!  Four firearms, plus lots of other goods!  Sig-Sauer, Ruger, Winchester, and Hi-Point! Brownell's, Midway, Redfield, Crimson Trace, and many more!  You have to register for the Rondy and buy tickets to be a winner, and it will be the best time of your life.  Go, and then share your experience online with the Gun Blogosphere!  If you enjoy the shooting sports these are your people!  Hit The Road!

NO EXCUSES! Go To Reno!

See that line?  It shows 650 miles from the Silver Legacy Hotel in Reno, Nevada, where Gun Blogger Rendezvous IX is about to happen.  Call the hotel, reserve a room, and HIT-THE-ROAD!  If you live anywhere within the radius of that line you can be there in one day.  Don't miss out! This Rendezvous will be the best ever!  Call in for a couple days of vacation; call in sick, or whatever, you need to be there!  Just GO!

Ruger's Auction To Benefit The Light Foundation

Here's an obscure and very rare Convertible Blackhawk made for Buckeye Sports Supply in 1990.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=436235585

This Blackhawk comes with two cylinders; one in .38-40, and the other in 10 mm.  This model was made only for Buckeye Sports Supply, and the top strap is marked with the buckeye and buckeye leaf logo of Buckeye Sports Supply.  The collectors are all over this one, but go and Take A Look anyway.  100% of the proceeds will go to benefit the Light Foundation.  This fine Ruger revolver will sell mid-day, Wednesday, September 3, 2014.

Tuesday Turbo Boost

I used to listen to clear channel radio stations at night on an old cabinet model Philco radio, and this song is one that was played by WHO in DesMoines, Iowa.  Lots of fun, but it's obscure to most folks today.
