It Isn't Safe

Coyotes, bobcats, and raccoons stalk through the nights. Two days ago we had five goslings with our yard geese. Yesterday there was one. Today, none.

I don't understand the love for raccoons. They will kill chickens and at least ducklings. I've lost more chickens to raccoons and hawks than I have to coyotes and bobcats. A netting over part of the run and an attentive rooster, along with a blue heeler when his out keeps the hawks at bay. Electric netting fence keeps the bobcats and coyotes out, raccoons seem to be smart enough to circumvent it however.

They rob bird nests on the ground or in trees and carry some nasty diseases that we do not want around our dogs. Nasty, miniature grizzlies, a threat to everyone!
