Logger and chainsaw instructor Joe Glenn showed us how to make a stump vise way back in '09 at the Dixon Springs Ag Center. It's easy to do and just takes a few minutes, in case you rock your saw and need to do some serious filing.

Nice, I have a 3 inch vice with a rubber face cover that I use to sharpen the chain. I had to replace the chain on my big saw this year. The big saw is a Stihl. If it is not run on a regular basis it is a PIA to crank. The little saw, a Poulan, it cranks on the second pull but I have a chinese chain on it that is soft steel. I have to stop at a half tank to sharpen the blade. It is throwing sawdust when it runs out of fuel.
