Black Oak and Bradford Pear

We are feeding the stoves the good stuff tonight and for the next several nights. Hard woods, not the birch, except for getting the fires recharged in the morning. Bradford pear is hard and dense, lots of BTUs!  Big chunks of Bradford run all night long.

I have been running pecan. I have a friend with a couple large orchards. I cut the limbs that are trimmed or are broken.

That is the best smoke you can get. I love the smell of pecan from the chimney! Char some pecan sticks and put them in a fruit jar. Pour in a good quality vodka, add some 95 proof ethanol to bring up your "barrel proof." Let it age 6 months and decant. It's special.
