Making Wood!

Susan and I have seen exactly one mill like this, in Michigan.  I wonder how many there are in the U.S.

Back To The Old Grind!

Update: I found the original video on YouTube>

I have seen videos on YT of two water driven mills in America. One is Amish, the other is an ancient mill in the hills of Western North Carolina. The mill in WNC was brought back to life by a man when just past his teenage years. He now regularly employs several men. His specialty is to cut to custom order.

I am sorry, I do not remember anymore than that.

While visiting a friend on Cape Cod, we visited a water powered saw mill. It was not in operation when we visited. The mill operated part time. A history museum or some such was interested in the preservation.

Steve Cross, in Georgia I think, is a national treasure. His mill operation not water powered. His ingenuity is phenominal. Plus, I could listen to him all day. Folks come to his mill from hundreds, even thousands of miles distant.
