Great Plains Windmill Service

Now you know who to call for all your windmill needs! I was terrified of the thought of climbing these when I was a kid!

The windmill on the farm has been stove up for 30+ years. I serviced it in 1990 I think and it stopped 4 or 5 years later. It would fill a 2000 gallon cistern that was used to water the garden and provide water to the animals in the barn. The fill level shut off would disengage a clutch on the down-shaft that ran the water pump. All the animals were sold when I moved my family to the ATL and all it was used for was the garden. I know the clutch needs to be rebuilt and there is something wrong with the gearbox.

Not my problem as my sister owns the farm now and it is falling apart as her husband may live on the farm but he does not know how to keep a farm running.

Neat videos, and now I need to find out about the brake and furling mechanisms.
I can work at heights, but that requires wearing a safety harness, and using a caged ladder with the anti-fall rail in the middle of the rungs.
If any part of that is lacking, I do not climb.
And because I care about those on the ground, I always blouse my trouser legs in case of unplanned releases of waste products of the human body.
