Just In Time For July Evenings!

Sunsets And More!
We lived in Eastern Kentucky for a few years (Where the sun comes up about 10 in the morning, and the sun goes down about 3 in the day.) and we still marvel at the sky shows we get in flat old Southern Illinois. Nearly every day has a show. The full moon was setting the other day when I had the dogs out for an early walk. We admire the moon through all its phases, and sometimes it is planted adjacent to a bright evening or morning planet. Occasionally we get a rainbow around the moon. Rain usually follows that.

Under The Car: Backroad Consequences
Last week the clutch pedal stayed down a couple times in the old Nissan pickup, but a little kick and it popped back, until last Thursday. It popped back, but could not be depressed. The little truck was dead in the water! I ordered a master and slave cylinder immediately, and installed them today. The slave cylinder was really stuck and rusty inside, and still wet from driving down our country roads on rainy days. I guess that is not too bad for a truck that is old enough to drink, and has over 200 grand on the odometer. I will be pulling the boot off the new one occasionally to rinse the outer bore with brake fluid. The new cylinder is made of aluminum, so it won't be making any red rust, but aluminum corrodes, too, so preventative care will be done occasionally, especially after driving flooded gravel.

Pipeliner Fly-By
The pipeliner flies by about once a week, looking for problems along the petroleum pipeline that goes through our timber. In the rare event that we would have equipment on or near the line, we call the operator so they can inform the pilot, rather than trigger alarm bells. We always enjoy seeing him go over.
