Ten And A Half Years Ago...

...was our big break-in. Yesterday I found another piece of glass in the driveway from that night! This surely has to be the last one...

The Beer Can Burglars Are Back!

Back in 2011 we were being  checked out by burglars. We sent a signal back to their little probes, and nothing happened to us at the time. One of our neighbors was burglarized, though. They are back, and the business must be doing OK, because now they are checking our vigilance with Budweiser longnecks.

I can't shoot holes in bottles, so I am debating on a good way to let them know we are not worth fooling with. Please leave suggestions in a comment!

Antler Madness

Bridge crossings out here in the country are depressing/maddening this time of year. We have had bow hunting since October 1 plus two firearm deer seasons, and the carcasses are piling up in the waterways. There are two common themes. One is the backstraps and hams cut off a discarded carcass, and the other is a skinned carcass with the antlers cut off the skull. There are evidently many who need a taxidermied deer on the wall to show off their hunting prowess. Look out there at the end of that point in Auxier Creek....

It has been skinned, the skull cut, thrown over the bridge, and cleaned by coyotes.

Here is a collection thrown over the bridge rail. There are some small antlers showing, so that one was at least partially butchered.

Here is a really big deer, skinned and de-antlered for a taxidermist. You have to wonder how many, if any, of these deer were legally hunted and killed. Hunter ethics and sportsmanship are sorely lacking in our neighborhood.

Just one of many laws addressing this:  (720 ILCS 5/47-5)
Sec. 47-5. Public nuisance. It is a public nuisance:
    (1) To cause or allow the carcass of an animal or offal, filth, or a noisome substance to be collected, deposited, or to remain in any place to the prejudice of others.
    (2) To throw or deposit offal or other offensive matter or the carcass of a dead animal in a water course, lake, pond, spring, well, or common sewer, street, or public highway.
    (3) To corrupt or render unwholesome or impure the water of a spring, river, stream, pond, or lake to the injury or prejudice of others.

Prowlers Again

The bums you will always have with you. We recently noticed that fuel had been stolen from our utility vehicle, and found strange footprints in the barn. The perps also pulled the wires off the ignition switch on the log splitter. Bad pennies they are.

Chicago Cops Raid The Wrong House...

If you broke into someone's home in Illinois you would be facing 30 years in prison. If you are armed, the state can add 15 years to your sentence. But you are not a cop. Cops typically go right on working. They might be fired, but they go down the road to another town and keep on doing what they do. Honestly, cops like this couldn't hold a job delivering pizza, and taxpayers are handed the bill for their atrocities. "What's the Punishment for Home Invasion in Illinois? Home invasion is a Class X felony in Illinois, which means if the court convicts you, you could go to prison for between 6 and 30 years. If you have a firearm at the time of the offense, the court may add to your sentence (you could even be imprisoned for life)." (Google ref)

The Civil Rights Lawyer is a great resource if you want to learn about your rights and the types of abuses that are happening to citizens all over the country.

More Trespass News

This one was on us, so I am going to have to patrol more. I have been minimizing my time walking the timber so I don't disturb the resident deer any more than necessary. Disturbances can hurt the hunts of our friends, plus push deer out of cover where poachers can get them. I did a tour the other day and noticed a black cherry tree that had been climbed by a portable deer stand. Putting on the grumpy face is going to necessary, I guess. You gotta reinforce your reputation once in a while.

Explain Situational Awareness Without Saying Situational Awareness!

From Fox 11, Los Angeles, this interview shows us that Craig Cope, the gentleman who successfully defended his life against an armed robber, obviously has good situational awareness skills. Those skills kept him Left Of Bang. We should all do so well.

Right Back On The Street

This is small town Fairfield, Iowa, home invasion, assault on the homeowner to rob him accomplices still at large, and he is bonded out to rob again. How is the homeowner going to be safe? Will this perp show up for his court appearance? Why should he? He's a free man now, and he can hop over to Illinois and continue to live a life of crime. Click the mug shot for the news story on KCII.

Always Be Aware And Ready

This is a routine traffic stop recently in Naperville, Illinois. A seventeen year old kid was stopped for blowing a stop sign, and then he had an expired insurance card, so the stop dragged on. A heinous perpetrator rolls up and changes the game, attacking the policeman with a hatchet. That happens beginning at about the 12:30 mark. The cop was on it. If you have ever shot a raccoon with a small caliber rifle you will recognize death throes. A surprise comes at about 15:30, after the dying quiver is done, when a responding officer with his gun trained on the now very still offender commands, "Roll over on your stomach!" Well, that didn't happen. I bet the kid in the car never runs a stop sign again in his life. This all went down right next to the poor guy.   Click Here to see the video. It cannot be embedded, so you have to go to YouTube. Look Quick, it probably will be taken down soon. Needless to say, you may not want to watch, but you should if you care about self defense skills.

How Many Perps Must Wiggle The Bolt...

...Until It Falls Out Of The Wall? I bet he wishes now that his lucky number hadn't come up.

The Illinois State Police video can't be embedded, so the first slide is a link to the video, and I have posted screen shots of important moments. Note the time in the lower left of the screen shots. Not much happens until 3:30, then things happen rapidly. Stay alert. The officers walked by the perp while he was engaged in escaping and did not realize what they were seeing.

Twenty-Year-Old Saved From Life Of Crime

Look at the news stations in any big city and your heart will be broken for our country because of lawlessness gone wild. In this news report, a 23 year-old met a 20-year old to sell a gun. I am guessing it was a stolen gun. The 20 year-old got his hands on the gun and took off running. The seller drew another gun and unloaded on the runner. There truly is no honor among thieves.
