Interesting.
When I watched the screwdriver segment I wondered why the screwdriver drawers smelled awful.
It turns out that some of the acetate handles are deteriorating.

3M makes "scuff pads" specifically for plastic and stainless steel which would be useful in a project like this. As for plastic screwdriver handles I've soaked them in Armor All spray for a few hours to remove the hazy appearance...it works.
