Weekend Steam: Angry Ollie

Merle picked another great one!  Angry Ollie looked like he was doomed a year ago, but if you click over to YouTube and read the comments you will see that he is being rebuilt and will be back online in a couple years.  The exhaust and whistle of this engine just about knocks you over!  Thanks, Merle!

The engine colors stayed mostly the same, I don't know how long the blue scheme for the buffer area lasted.

As far as the wrecked bearing and the aging out of the boiler. It is all repairable, but that depends on skill, desire, and of course, money.

How do the passengers get on and off? Angry Ollie rips through every station at WOT....LOL!!

Based on an assumed ~9 foot diameter of the locomotive wheels and rate of rotation, I estimate the speed was 80 mph at it's fastest shown in the video. Does that sound right?

Rick: According to this, the drivers are 6' 2", but I think this loco can run 80 mph with no trouble! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BR_Standard_Class_7
