Making Hole Again
We had the various utility people locating for us again, and the water line from the meter to the buildings does not have a copper line, so it cannot be located. We had to do it ourselves so we can avoid trouble.

I wondered if somehow sound could be used to find buried PVC piping.
You can, but they all look like Pro level tools.

Some people can find buried pvc lines by "witching" then using bent metal rods. You hold the short arm of the rod loosely and walk over the suspect area, when the rods cross you have the approximate location. You can then use a probe to determine the exact location.
Anon: Yes, we do that for finding graves, too! You can find water lines, sewer lines, almost anything that has disturbed the earth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwGKEpjTLG0&feature=youtu.be
