Tuesday Torque: Armstrong Corn Shellers

These machines will develop a kid's work ethic and he will feel great, pulling his weight on the farm. Susan and I shot these photos and video segments at Pinckneyville last October.

Pretty slick machinery.
What is done with the corn cobs afterwards?

When I was a kid, the cobs were ground coarsely and used for the floor in the chicken house. Some were kept in the wood box, and were dipped in kerosene for fire starters.
