Please Say A Little Prayer For My Cat...
Big'un is a semi-wild barn cat, but he comes running every night when I call him for supper. He's been in our nursery for a month, but antibiotics didn't help his eye, and he is going in for surgery first thing Tuesday to have the eye removed.

Any idea of what caused the problem? Could it be contageous for the other cats? I remember my maternal grandparents had an ongoing problem with eye infections with their barn cats - made me wonder if it was caused/agrevated by something in the barn environment.
My daughter has a Russian Blue that needs constant doses of ointment in his eyes - he sure don't like it much.
Merle
Some of our cats have had those weepy eyes. I think it is caused by a chronic virus. Big 'un had something stuck in his eye; a claw or thorn. The vet may dissect it if she has a spare moment. She said the eye was enormous, and it's a good thing we got him in today.
We're wishing him a speedy recovery, David. And a smooth transition.
I'm doubting you'd let him loose, but he might have other thoughts.
Good Luck
This will make him an indoor cat whether he likes it or not. One-eyed cats are easy pickin's for the coyotes. I guess I'm the crazy old cat man.
